Jake's (my son's) MSC is a study of motility of pseudomonas fluorescens, a flourescent bacteria. His supervisor Ville Friman doubles up in a famous Death Metal Band called Insomnium.

About Insomnium

I have been meaning to paint the idea of this interesting juxtaposition for some time now. Then comes the Bataclan Massacre and this becomes something else. It represents the spirit of being whatever you are.

Jake has just told me that he has shown it to Ville and he likes the representation of his 'two personalities'. And it turns out that he has played at Bataclan.
