A bit of a fool


This one is a follow-up on my episode ‘Playing the Fool’and gives a qualification to that! The cover art is is me in my costume for a Framlingham Castle party in 2019, most of it made by me.

  1. As someone who is her own worst critic, this resonated – I could relate. I have to constantly remind myself to take a more lighthearted approach to life, as the fool appears to do; but to be a fool has indeed more than one meaning; and, I’m afraid, I have much practise in both – likely one signifcantly more than the other. Regardless, I must push myself to extend beyond the boundaries set by the fear of being a fool (after all, I’ve never been one to care much for what other people think anyway), with the wisdom gained from being a fool.

  2. Dostoevsky, whom I have never read, makes good points. He is exaggerating a bit, but many organisations, governments and individuals are unable or unwilling to learn from their mistakes. When I see bridge players making the same mistakes again and again, this does not matter – it is only a game. But an institutional failure to even try to do better is more serious. If the computer says it is right, and procedures have been followed, then it is all OK. Again, the artwork is a good part of your multi-media offering: suits you, Sir!
