It’s always a marvellous feeling to make progressive steps toward a goal, whatever the goal may be: walking to the end of the drive, then the end of the road, then around the block, for some; finishing a particularly challenging painting, book, or course; or, working toward building one’s own sanctuary within a chaotic world, ironically by dismantling, as was taking place at yours.
It sounds as though you all took part in unique Easter Weekend activities; but, you were all together, which is the main point, and, hopefully, none of you have experienced any lingering white finger.
How incredible that a small garden pond requires four tons of concrete, and that these in turn require 300 bags to dispose of them! No wonder you were quoted £9,500 for the job.
As for builder’s bum – I trust Debbie will be posting the photographic evidence!
Very well done, all. There is perhaps something rather spiritual about smashing up and starting again, especially at Easter. We will be having a new patio soon, and some other work done. But we will pay to have everything old smashed up and taken away. We had a pond with fish, but it was removed (fish given away) and turned into a rockery when I was five. My parents took the decision based on both appearance and the risk of small children falling in.
