Inhuman Being

I talk about Download, the first book by my friend Ian Thomson. It resonates with my podcast style. And I did the cover art!

  1. Great, Ant. I’ve just listened. Well done to both you and your friend.
I’ve thought a lot about the juxtaposition of benevolence and maleficence in the human world, and indeed, all through nature – even nature herself. A ferocious storm unleashing destruction. A delicate flower growing from the cracks in a pavement. Whilst obviously I don’t condone maleficence in any way, perhaps those paradoxical… natures that are dividing humans… _are_ nature. As you responded to one of my recent posts, a haiku about the ebbing and flowing of waves, nature is us.
I’m not suggesting for a moment that we should tolerate maleficence ‘because it’s nature’… no, not at all… but I think the two seemingly separate natures make the whole.
    Perhaps 🤷‍♀️.

  2. Some very interesting thoughts, and I hope that the book will go really well. I think that it is reasonable for us to apply judgements on what is human or inhuman (or perhaps non-human) behaviour, even if the moral justification may sometimes be dubious. But without such judgements or standards, there can be a breakdown of society – and whatever society is depends on your viewpoint.
