Our cultural values

What are they?

  1. Fascinating as usual Ant. I am inclined to think there’s nothing particularly singular about our values: but then, when I give way on the road or in a buffet queue abroad, and meet stony faced disregard in the one I’ve given way for, perhaps I’m not so sure.

Democracy seems to figure prominently in the values that get referred to as British. Which prompts me to wonder how long democracy can survive, both its external ( eg China) and internal ( eg MAGA) threats. Will future cultural historians maybe look back on democracy as a passing island in an autocratic ocean? Discuss.
