Chance events do have a big effect on our lives, and it is hard to rationalise. Things happen, and there are obviously always reasons, but often it is better not try to work out why.
I agree entirely with your conclusions on this Ant. Keep our eyes and ears open – put ourselves in the way of benefitting from good fortune if there is any around to be had. If, rather than shutting myself away in my den, I walk the streets and talk to strangers, I might encounter some very interesting sympathetic people – and also, perhaps, the odd conman!
